2006
: 10th anniversary
2006
will mark my 10th anniversary as owner of Domaine
Orégnac.
To celebrate, your friendly outfitter is proposing
a contest and a special rebate
to the August clients.
The ever-popular “The Largest Trout Contest”
will be back in 2006,
better and bigger than ever with three winners instead
of one.
The contest will be ongoing during the months of
June, July and August with a winner for each of
the three months. Take advantage of our July and
August low rates to bring along the whole family.
These special low rates still include leisurely
cottage enjoyment, fishing rights and boat with
the possibility of doing some trekking in natural
surroundings.

2005
Bear
hunting

The bear hunting season has been excellent in 2005
with a harvest of 11 beasts amongst 15 hunters,
not including the seven (beasts that is) that manage
to escape.
All 15 hunters who chose Domaine Orégnac
for bear hunting have all seen at least one bear
with one of them being wounded with 6 sightings
in 3 nights.
In 2006, I plan to open a new 200-square-miles territory
for bear hunting.
As usual, I guarantee that each hunter gets to see
at least one bear during his 6-day stay at the domain
or he comes back for free the following year.

New cabin at Plongeurs Lake
|
New cabin at Plongeurs
Lake A new cabin, able to accommodate
up to three persons, has recently been built on
the bank of the Plongeurs Lake.
It offers all the comforts one would expect including
solar energy lighting, washroom, shower, a double
bed and a single one. A large screened veranda
has also been added.
Imagine yourself in the midst of nature, with
a beautiful lake a few feet from your doorway,
and 11 more within a radius of 2.5 miles.

Mrs. Irène Tremblay from Longue-Rive caught
the largest trout in 2005 at Domaine Orégnac
on the very first day of the season. A superb 4.5-pound
catch at the Myrio Lake with the help of her dedicated
companion Jean-Marie Bélisle who netted it.
The winner received a free fishing day for her and
her group to be taken in 2006.
The record since the opening of Domaine Orégnac
is a 7 1/4 lbs speckled trout caught in 1994. |

Who
said fishing wasn't as good in August ? |
August
not to be Ignored

The summer of 2005 was particularly hot, but it
didn't stop Michel Chainé of Trois-Rivièves
from catching this 4-pounder speckled trout in the
middle of August (on the Naja Lake in case you're
interested).
Who said fishing wasn't as good in August ?
As a matter of fact, the Domaine Orégnac
prides itself in offering big catches throughout
the season,
year after year. |
New
for July and August
We have found a road located 23 km from the Domain
that gives us access to the Pipmuacan Reservoir,
a 120-mile long water "pond".
If you like action, save a day outing for the capture
of Northern pikes.
In July 2005, we caught 120 of them in a single
day. |

Small
Game Hunting :
The best year

For a third consecutive year, the small game hunting
season has proved most successful with a total of
more than 200 partridges.
All in all, a total of 248 partridges were brought
back, 22 more than the previous record.
To be more precise, 122 ruffed grouse and 126 spruce
grouse were on the menu. |
Fishing
Season:
the Outfitter's Forecasts Come True

The 2005 season was indeed a very good
one with 1,000 more catches than in 2004 for a grand
total of 4,461 catches.
Bouchard Lake came in first with 695 trouts. The
average weight came in at 8.5 oz (226 gr). Next
year, three lakes (Polo, Miri and Nadia) will be
available for fly fishing only and catch and release.

2005 was an excellent moose hunting
season |
Moose
hunting

The 2005 moose-hunting season was also excellent
with three moose including this magnificent male
killed during the first of
the two-week season.
Two new live-in blinds were installed in an area
that was not accessible until now.
The addition of salt blocks
will ensure success for 2006. |
